“Reading and writing are in themselves subversive acts. What they subvert is the notion that things have to be the way they are, that you are alone, that no one has ever felt the way you have. What occurs to people when they read Kurt is that things are much more up for grabs than they thought they were. The world is a slightly different place just because they read a damn book. Imagine that.” —

Mark Vonnegut

From his introduction to Armageddon in Retrospect.

No brioche I do not have a girlfriend, but feel free to add your name on to the queue.

LCD Soundsystem is streaming their new album on their website → lcdsoundsystem.com

and might I add that it is spectacular. In particular, the first song Dance Yrself Clean builds and builds and hits you then it curls back but right when you think it’s gone it hits you again.

No question here, but just wanted to say that you fucking rock. One of the few people with whom I'm consistently impressed with each and every single post.

Much appreciated 12minds, and I’d gladly say the exact same thing for you.

It All Happened Ben Kweller

david-noel:

Ben Kweller | It All Happened

Ben Kweller and Esquire Magazine teamed up for this free download:

For this issue, Esquire Magazine asked five of its favorite musicians - Dierks Bentley, Charlie Mars, Bob Schneider, Griffin House, and Ben Kweller - to come to the Shack-Up Inn in Clarksdale, Mississippi and take part in a two-day fashion shoot with world-famous photographer Danny Clinch. To make things interesting, Esquire also asked each of the musicians to take the “Esquire Songwriting Challenge” which called for each artist to write, perform, and record an original song with lyrics that include the phrase “Somewhere in Mississippi.”

A little southern comfort.
